AgentLane vs GoHighLevel AI Employee: An Honest Comparison for Agencies (October 2026)

GoHighLevel's AI Employee is an add-on to a full CRM and marketing platform; AgentLane is a narrow white-label agent layer. Prices, rebilling and where each one wins, with every competitor figure sourced and dated.

By AgentLane Founder · Founder

GoHighLevel's AI Employee is an add-on to a very broad platform: a CRM, funnels, websites, email and SMS campaigns, a unified inbox across SMS, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, and more. AgentLane is a narrow layer that does one thing: it runs pre-built AI agents for your clients, under your brand, at a capped monthly price. If your clients already live in HighLevel, keep it. AgentLane is for the clients who don't, or for the agent itself when you don't want to build and maintain it.

Every HighLevel figure below links to HighLevel's own pages and carries the date we read it. Prices change; check the source before you quote a client. We wrote an earlier, more general comparison of the two platforms here. This post is specifically about AI Employee.

What each one is

HighLevel lists, on its home page (read 2026-10-27): CRM, websites and funnels, forms and surveys, calendars, a "consolidated conversation stream (SMS, Messenger, Instagram DM, Whatsapp, Livechat)", sales pipelines, workflows, reputation management with AI review reply, invoicing and payments, broadcast campaigns and a mobile app. It also lists Voice AI, a chat widget with Conversation AI, and missed-call text-back. AI Employee is the paid tier that switches the AI features on per sub-account.

AgentLane has none of the CRM, funnel or campaign tooling. It has a catalog of twelve pre-built agents (the catalog), each a code-defined workflow rather than a prompt you configure. Missed-call text-back is the one we sell today: when a call to your client's number is missed, it sends one AI-written SMS from that number. The other agents are requested from your dashboard and switched on after we review the request. You fill in the client's details (hours, services, timezone), and we run the agent.

Price, side by side

AgentLane prices are from our live /pricing (the same numbers the API serves). HighLevel prices are from its pricing page and its AI Employee pricing article, both read 2026-10-27.

HighLevel AgentLane
Platform Starter $97/mo (3 sub-accounts), Unlimited $297/mo, Agency Pro $497/mo Launch $149/mo, Professional $449/mo, Scale $999/mo; Enterprise from $2,500/mo, invoiced
The AI, per client AI Employee Growth $50/mo or Unlimited $97/mo per sub-account; Starter $20/mo only on the $497 plan One agent-client seat: $99 (Launch), $79 (Professional, 3 included), $59 (Scale, 10 included). A second agent for the same client is half the seat fee
What the AI tier includes Growth: 1,000 Conversation AI responses and 100 Voice AI minutes a month. Unlimited: "subject to fair use" 5,000 managed AI credits per agent-client a month on Launch (catalog agents), 20,000 on the other plans; 2,500 / 15,000 / 60,000 executions a month
When the allowance runs out Usage pauses by default; turning on Extra Usage bills at pay-per-use rates (Voice Engine $0.045/min plus TTS, LLM tokens and phone charges) Hard cap: the AI step stops and a trigger over quota is refused. No overage charges on Launch, Professional or Scale
Telephony "Phone System charges apply separately" SMS goes out on your own Twilio account, which bills you directly

Worked example, list prices only. One client: AgentLane Launch is $149 + $99 = $248/mo. HighLevel Unlimited plus AI Employee Unlimited is $297 + $97 = $394/mo. Three clients: $149 + 3 × $99 = $446 against $297 + 3 × $97 = $588. Ten clients: AgentLane Scale is $999 (ten seats included) against $297 + 10 × $97 = $1,267.

That comparison flatters us, and you should know why. The HighLevel number buys a CRM, funnels, campaigns and a multi-channel inbox as well as the AI. If you would pay for those anyway, the AI Employee add-on is the number to compare, and $97 per sub-account against our $59–$99 seat is a much closer call.

Where HighLevel wins

  • Breadth. CRM, pipelines, funnels, email and SMS campaigns, a social and WhatsApp inbox, and invoicing in one login. AgentLane has none of that and is not trying to.
  • Billing your clients for you. SaaS Mode takes client subscriptions through Stripe (and, in SaaS V2, NMI, Authorize.net and Square). AI Employee rebilling is available on the $497 plan, and the pricing page lists phone and email rebilling with markup on Agency Pro. AgentLane does not collect money from your clients: you invoice them yourself. Our portal records each client's retail price and produces a monthly retail-versus-cost statement, but it is tracking only.
  • Channels. HighLevel's AI reaches Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and live chat. AgentLane's agents work over SMS and email. We have no live website chat, Instagram or WhatsApp channel.
  • Voice. HighLevel's Voice AI is a published product with per-minute rates. AgentLane's voice add-on is in controlled deployment: we test each client's call flow before it goes live, and the add-on ($69/mo per voice-enabled agent-client, 300 minutes included, $0.20/min after) is billed on your invoice.

Where AgentLane wins

  • You build nothing. Each agent is a fixed, code-defined workflow. The client's details go in a form; you do not write prompts or maintain flows.
  • Written rules, enforced in code. Every catalog agent has a published capability contract in your portal: what it reads, what it may and may not do, how it fails and how it is billed. For missed-call text-back, a caller who texted STOP is never texted, nothing is sent between 21:00 and 08:00 in the client's timezone (it waits), and the first AI-written text carries a one-sentence AI disclosure in English, French or Arabic that the client can reword but not remove.
  • A known monthly bill. Launch, Professional and Scale are hard-capped. If a client has a spam-call storm, runs stop at the plan cap; it does not run up a per-message bill.
  • The client stays where they are. No CRM migration and no new software for the client to learn. The agent texts from a number on your Twilio account (an existing number can be forwarded to it).
  • Price per client. On the list prices above, the agent costs less per client at every count we checked, if you don't need the rest of HighLevel.

What we don't claim

AgentLane is not a CRM, not a phone system and not autonomous: missed-call text-back sends one text and tells the caller a human will call back. In the US, texts start only after A2P 10DLC registration on your Twilio account, which usually takes one to three weeks. We publish no customer results yet.

The decision

If your offer is "we run your clients' marketing from one dashboard", HighLevel is the right base, and AI Employee is a reasonable add-on to it. If your offer is "we answer every missed call with a text, under our brand, for a fixed fee", AgentLane is cheaper per client and you maintain nothing. Plenty of agencies will use both. Frequently asked questions

Is AgentLane cheaper than GoHighLevel with AI Employee?
On list prices for the agent itself, usually yes: one client on AgentLane Launch is $149 platform + $99 for the agent-client = $248/mo, against $297 (HighLevel Unlimited) + $97 (AI Employee Unlimited, per sub-account) = $394/mo on HighLevel's published prices as of 2026-10-27. But the HighLevel figure also buys a CRM, funnels, email and social messaging, which AgentLane does not have, so it is not a like-for-like price. Telephony is extra on both.
Can AgentLane charge my clients for me, the way HighLevel SaaS Mode does?
No. AgentLane bills your agency; you invoice your clients yourself. The portal lets you record each client's retail price and gives you a monthly statement of retail against your AgentLane cost (JSON or CSV), but it moves no money. HighLevel's SaaS Mode takes client subscriptions through Stripe and other processors, and AI Employee rebilling is available on its $497 plan. If automatic client billing matters to you, HighLevel wins this one.
Can I run both?
Yes. Nothing in AgentLane requires a client to leave their CRM. Missed-call text-back works from the client's Twilio number, so an agency can keep a client's pipeline and campaigns in HighLevel and use AgentLane for the agent itself.
Does AgentLane do voice like HighLevel's Voice AI?
Not at the same stage. AgentLane's agents work over SMS. A voice add-on exists ($69/mo per voice-enabled agent-client, 300 minutes included, $0.20/min after, billed on invoice), but voice is in controlled deployment: each client's call flow is tested before it goes live. HighLevel's Voice AI is a published product with per-minute pricing.
